Hotel Tech Report offers two ways to get the listing fee handled when you list a product:
Membership | What happens to the listing fee | How it works |
Basic member | Refunded | Use the Welcome Offer when you create a new product profile to get the listing fee refunded |
Waived | The listing fee is waived automatically as a benefit of Premium membership |
So does that mean listings are free? Not quite. Creating a product profile carries a one-time, nominal listing fee starting at $300 per profile for basic/freemium members who don't have an active Premium Membership plan (discounts offered for multiple profiles) — there's no free-signup tier. But as the table shows, every vendor has a path to get that fee back (basic members, via the Welcome Offer) or skip it entirely (Premium members). And once your listing is live, there's no ongoing cost or subscription to keep it active.
Why there's a listing fee
The listing fee exists to make sure that every company on Hotel Tech Report is a credible, established business with a real product in market. Hoteliers rely on us to research and shortlist vetted technology, so the quality of what's listed matters enormously — to them and to the vendors competing for their attention.
Without any bar to entry, the platform would fill up with fly-by-night startups that don't yet have a shippable product let alone hotels using it. That's a problem for everyone involved:
It dilutes discovery. Non-viable listings crowd search results and category rankings, making it harder for hoteliers to find the proven solutions they're actually looking for — and harder for real vendors to stand out.
It creates buyer confusion. When placeholder profiles sit next to established products, hoteliers can't easily tell what's real and ready to adopt.
It drains Hotel Tech Report's resources. Every listing consumes traffic, visibility, and support — from onboarding to ongoing tickets. Profiles that will never serve a real customer spread those resources thin without adding value for anyone.
The listing fee is a simple, effective filter. It's low enough that any legitimate company with a product in market can clear it without a second thought, but high enough to screen out ventures that aren't real yet. In short, it keeps the marketplace credible for hoteliers while remaining a genuinely low, nominal bar to entry for vendors.
How the listing fee is refunded or waived
Basic members — the Welcome Offer. When you create a new product profile, you can recoup the $500 fee within your first 30 days in one of two ways: collect 25 verified reviews (credited toward leads), or upgrade to any Premium plan (100% cash refund). Full details are here: Welcome Offer: Get the listing fee refunded.
Premium members — waived. If you're a Premium member, the listing fee is waived as a membership benefit, so there's nothing to recoup in the first place.
What you get with a basic listing
Once your listing is created, you're on our basic freemium tier by default — no ongoing cost and no subscription. From there you can:
Access your vendor dashboard
Collect verified reviews from your hotelier customers
Build your online reputation and category standing over time
Reviews are what drive organic discovery on Hotel Tech Report, so the basic tier is built to help you start building that reputation and your organic presence on the platform.
Optional add-ons
Beyond the basics, you can choose to run campaigns (PPC) to drive hotelier traffic to your site, or publish content to raise your profile. These are entirely optional — neither is required to have a presence on the platform or to collect reviews.
